Milk is known to contain several types of proteins, but beta-casein is almost one-third of the total protein present. What really counts, however, is the type of beta-casein.
All cows have beta-casein, but Gir cows-an indigenous Indian breed-produce milk that contains only A2 beta-casein. In contrast, the milk of most hybrid cows contains A1 beta-casein
Scientific studies have shown that A1 and A2 beta-casein are digested differently in the human body. The digestion process for A1 beta-casein releases a peptide, known as BCM-7, and it has been associated with negative impacts on digestive health. It is indicated by studies that these protein fragments formed during digestion may be pivotal in dictating how the human digestive system functions.
Astudy published in the Indian Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism (2012) reported that BCM-7 may be a risk factor for conditions such as type-1 diabetes, coronary heart disease, and neurological disorders including autism and schizophrenia since it may enter the bloodstream and possibly cross into the brain.
Further evidence is from a human clinical trial at Curtin University, Australia. The study clearly demonstrated differences in digestive symptoms between milk containing A1 and A2 beta-casein. The conclusion was made that certain proteins or peptides (those not naturally found in the human body) could potentially be causing digestive problems such as IBS and weakened gut health.

Tharpure was established with one aim in mind: to provide uncompromising quality milk and dairy products. Much of the milk sold in the market today is either over-processed or low in nutrition, lacking the natural taste of truly fresh milk.
At Tharpure Farms, we raise only one indigenous Indian breed of cows, Gir. This phenomenal breed is famous for its superior quality milk, offering a richer taste and higher nutritional value.
At Tharpure, we think that you deserve nothing but the best. With strict quality assurance at every stage, we bring you pure Indian cow milk and ghee, naturally rich in A2 beta-casein protein, just as nature intended.

One of the most important mineral present in cow's milk is calcium. This mineral is vital for bones growth and development. Calcium gets joined to phosphorus and forms calcium phosphate, which is a important element of hydroxyapatite. This helps to give strength to the bones and their proper structure.
High quality protein is present in cow's milk, which has ultimate benefits to the body.
Cow's milk is rich in vitamin B2 (riboflavin) and vitamin B12, both of which help produce energy for the body. These vitamins also help protect heart.
Cow's milk is abundant in iodine, which is an incorporated component of thyroid hormones thyroxine and triiodothyronine.
A cup of cow's milk is enough for the body's daily requirement of potassium. Potassium is needed for proper heart functioning, nerve transmissions and muscles contraction.

The Gir cow is one of India's most famous indigenous dairy breeds. Its native region lies in the Gir hills and forests of Kathiawar, covering the districts of Junagadh, Bhavnagar, Rajkot, and Amreli in Gujarat.
The Gir cows have several desirable attributes: they are highly tolerant of heat and stress conditions and are resistant to many tropical diseases. Generally, Gir cattle are considered one of the finest indigenous breeds, especially for their high-quality milk.
This breed caught the attention of the globe when Dr. B. A. Golakia, Head of the Biotechnology Department at Junagadh Agricultural University, conducted a four-year study using Gas Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry. The trace elements of gold were found in the urine of Gir cows. The result took not only the country but the whole scientific world by surprise.
Organisations like CISSA, working for indigenous cattle breeds, have taken pride in such findings and promoted the conservation of native Indian cows.
